McDonald's Chicken McNuggets branded 'healthy' by Weight Watchers.

“McDonald's is not the obvious choice for the health conscious dieter but the fast food chain has signed a deal with Weight Watchers to rebrand some of its meals as "healthy options.

Three McDonald's meals, including Chicken McNuggets, carrying the Weight Watchers logo will be sold in the fast food chain in New Zealand from this week and will be introduced into Australia in the next few months.
As part of the deal, McDonald's will use the Weight Watchers logo on its menu boards and Weight Watchers will promote McDonald's food to dieters.”

You can read the article in its entirety at:  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/7359902/McDonalds-Chicken-McNuggets-branded-healthy-by-Weight-Watchers.html

Admittedly, when I first saw this, I thought it was a joke.  You wouldn’t think that a “food” that has 38 ingredients, 17 of which are corn products would be considered healthy.  Well, apparently this “food” is.  Let’s take a gander at the ingredients of the ever healthy Chicken McNuggets:

White boneless chicken, water, food starch-modified, salt, seasoning (autolyzed yeast extract, salt, wheat starch, natural flavoring (botanical source), safflower oil,
dextrose, citric acid, rosemary), sodium phosphates, seasoning (canola oil, mono- and diglycerides, extractives of rosemary). Battered and breaded with: water,
enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), yellow corn flour, food starch-modified, salt, leavening (baking
soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, calcium lactate), spices, wheat starch, whey, corn starch. Prepared in
vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness). Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an
antifoaming agent.

There are a few things that I know for sure:

Water is wet.
The sky is blue.
Chicken McNuggets are NOT a health food.

Who would’ve known bad fats (including hydrogenated oils), corn, corn derivatives, sugar and toxins were actually good for us?!  I apologize to all our regular readers.  Forget everything I’ve ever told you about nutrition.  I was wrong.  Chicken McNuggets are the way to go.  Please forgive me.

Now, I hope you caught my sarcasm.  I also hope you’re just as infuriated at this as I am.  The spewing of nutritional nonsense makes my blood boil.  The reason is simple.  I don’t like to see people being lied to and I don’t like to see people suffer.  Think about the possibility of parents reading this article and deciding that Chicken McNuggets are an acceptable food for their children.  Scary.
